I'm back!

More than a year ago, I wrote the beginnings to a Alpha Legion fan fiction called Whispers in the Dark. Unfortunately, my inspiration for that story fizzled out. Now, though, I am inspired to keep writing it again. Even though I have distanced myself somewhat from the 40k hobby, I intend to continue writing Whispers for the time being. Look out for a story update in not too long.

Let's Look at Apocalypse: Dream-walker Squadron

The wraithknight formation is awesomely awesome because the wraithknights in the formation get bonuses to BS, WS, charge range, and movement (I think that's all of them) equal to the number of wraithknights in the formation. So if there were 5 wraithknights (the unit can be from 3-5) then they would get +5 to all of the things mentioned before. Plus they are wraithknights, and wraithknights are just awesome because they have awesome models. I have said awesome a lot in this post, I guess that's awesome. I will probably write some more posts on apocalypse later, but I have had lots of homework and other stuff going on so maybe not for a while. Plus there are a lot of other things I would like to post too. Have fun with your Dream-walker Squadrons!!

New Background!

This is more of an update rather than a post. I saw this background image on google images and I thought it looked pretty cool, like something that would happen in 40k. So I decided to see how it looked on the blog and I'm going to leave it there for a while and see how it goes. I may take it down if I feel that it doesn't look so good later but I guess I just kind of wanted to update the blog a bit, freshen it up if you know what I'm saying. By the way I'll have some apocalypse reviews up soon so be looking for them.

What's Going On

There have been barely any posts this summer and we apologize. I could not think of ANYTHING to post about and I was also busy doing fun and awesome summer stuff. I went to Minnesota, worked on a farm there, played some Warhammer (40k mostly), and some video games.

I've been looking at the new apocalypse book and there is a lot of awesome stuff. Orks can now loot any vehicle formation from any other race. I don't see anything that puts the vehicles down to ballistic skill 2 so I'm assuming that those vehicles auto-target or something. There were a lot of new super-heavy's and other formations, and Games Workshop is actually making plastic models for some! Hooray for cheaper titans! I'm sad that there are no Eldar titans though because I love Eldar. Yes I know that the Wraithknight is about as big as a Stompa but it's not as good as a super-heavy. There is however a Wraithknight formation though, and it is awesome. I will talk further about apocalypse stuff and this formation in another post so look out for it, hopefully I'll have it out in a couple days.

Emperor vs. The other Founder Dude aka Sigmar

Hi guys,
Over the past few months I have been diving into the Warhammer lore and soaking it up. But recently a question popped into my head, and I just want to see what other peoples opinions are. So, the question is who do you like more; The Emperor (Warhammer 40k) or Sigmar (Warhammer Fantasy)? Hope to see all of your opinions soon.

A tutorial(and pics for once)

So, for the first time in this blogs(admittedly short) lifespan, I have a tutorial for you all. This is my own unique way of painting grimy metal(don't try this on space marines or the like, it looks fantastic on orks though). It has very few steps, and you don't need to be that good to do it. When I use old paints, refer to the Citadel Paint Conversion Chart. The miniature used is an Ork Deffkopta from the OOP starter set Assault on Black Reach.

Step 1: Basecoat the mini black. Doesn't matter how, doesn't matter what shade, just black. I chose a color of spray primer that looks a lot like oil and dirt in an auto repair workshop, but even if you don't have access to that, you can fix it in a later stage. I don't have pictures of this for obvious reasons. If you want to know the exact primer, comment and I'll get back to you.

Step 2: Drybrush with Leadbelcher from the new Citadel paint range. You can be messy about it, mainly you want to get the edges and spread streaks along the flat parts. There should be a lot of black showing through, so don't worry about it.

Step 3: Edge highlight the miniature with Chainmail(from the old range). Just get all the edges of everything you are painting with metal, but in this case, I did the whole model, as the rest of the colors were not really defined. You can also drag streaks of the brush across bits of the model if you wish.

Step 4: Put a Badab Black wash in the recesses of the model. Splash on a lot of it, but don't go too crazy. It should make the recesses of the model look oily and grimy, as if nobody has cleaned it in a while. You can't really see it in this picture(my camera's not that great), but it works pretty well. If you want to, you can substitute a brownish wash to simulate rust.

I used this tutorial on the Deffkopta at the top of the page, and I have some more pictures of it here. Enjoy!
